Outdoor Ministries Vermont Conference

This is a ministry to experience the outdoor world of fun, joy and love. It is a chance to make new friends, grow, share and live the Christian faith. As an extension of the ministry of the local church, camping provides outdoor education so that persons may:

  • Find or renew faith in Jesus
  • Grow in relationship to God and others
  • Develop potential and build esteem
  • Share in Christian love
  • Experience God’s grace and love
  • Discover God’s natural world
  • Integrate scripture with personal experience
  • Christian life-style is taught and modeled. No attempt is made to convert persons to any particular denomination.

Things Are Gearing Up for Summer Camping in 2016

"Courage in Community" is the theme for this summer's curriculum at Horton Center and will be the center of the many fun activities the children and youth will be engaged in. What a great message for our children and youth to learn about.  Nancy Fowler of Barre Congregational Church, UCC recently attended a Horton Center and Pilgrim Lodge Deans retreat in Maine( see photo above left).  Laurie Chipman of First Congregational Church of Essex Junction, UCC will be counselor for the "Green and White Unite" week at Horton Center.  Both are looking forward to their weeks at camp this summer.

The Vermont Conference is working with Horton Center and Rock Point to offer a camp experience for our Vermont UCC kids. If churches did not receive some brochures in the mail last week with more detailed information, please contact the Conference Office. We encourage all ages to look at all the camp options.

But we do have two special options for campers from VT.

One will be from July 10-16 at Horton Center in New Hampshire for 6-8th graders called "Green and White Unite". Show up to for a week in the White Mountains and meet some new friends from the Green Mountains. Go to the camp's webpage HERE!

The other is from July 31- August 5 at Rock Point in Burlington for 4-8th graders. This one is called "CHCCC At the Rock". You'll see familiar Covenant Hill friends, meet new friends, experience God's spirit with the beauty of the water and the amazing nature trails all around you.
