Report on the 2007 Annual Meeting

The Vermont Conference Annual Meeting was held in Castleton, VT from May 31-June 2, 2007. There were just under 300 people representing the whole state present at the event. The weather was great and many said it was the best meeting they had been to in years. The following story and pictures give a small synopsis of the weekend. I apologize if your computer can’t handle the pictures, we wanted to try and share this great event with as many as possible, and encourage everyone to attend next year. Thanks!

Annual Meeting Notes: '07 at Castleton. Vermont throws our own 50th birthday party for the UCC. Dinner together and dancing to Mark LeGrand and the music of the 50's kicked off a weekend of celebration, fellowship, fun, worship, and some business, too. We caught a glimpse or two of these 50 years of our life together in a wonderful photo exhibit organized by Bob Eddy. We honored folk who have been to most of the last 50 annual meetings. We commissioned a Conference Minister Search Committee, and voted in officers. We received encouraging financial reports and voted for a balanced budget. And in a keynote address by Rev Elizabeth Nordbeck and sermon by Rev David Schoen we were challenged to recognize who we are today and to move forward while remembering to learn from our past.
Since she will have left us by Annual Meeting '08, we took a moment to thank our Interim Conference Minister, Rev Susan Henderson, for her outstanding and faithful service.

And most importantly we came together again as the Vermont Conference United Church of Christ to worship God, in old and new ways, in song and word and sacrament. Thanks Be to God!
