Overview:
In
1982 the then United Church of Christ Board of Homeland Ministries
felt that a new church start was needed in Vermont. Demographics
were done and the Malletts Bay area of Colchester was chosen. In
October 1983, a congregation of adults, youth and children gathered
to fom a community of faith in this lakeshore town. This was the
first new Congregational church started in Vermont in over 100 years.
The meeting place was the local roller skating rink, but to the
people who gathered there to worship it was a sanctuary! The present
church building on West Lakeshore Drive, Colchester was dedicated
on September 29, 1991 and on September 30, 2001 a ten year celebration
was held. At present there are approximately 90 active families
involved in this "new church start."
