Overview: The Old Meeting House is an active community church with strong denominational ties to the United Church of Christ. It is a church with special interests in missions, music, theater, and the preservation of its historic building. It welcomes and supports diversity. Its congregation has been growing rapidly in recent years, and it has just completed a major renovation and expansion of the Parish House to accommodate its activities and the increased size of its Sunday School. The Old Meeting House was built in 1823. Its unpainted box pews, original plaster walls and coved (or rounded) ceiling make it one of the best preserved examples of vernacular style architecture in Vermont.
Directions: Drive north on Main Street in Montpelier and bear right at the roundabout. At the top of the hill go straight where Main Street becomes the County Road. After the cemetery, bear right on the Center Road and drive 1.6 miles. The church is on the right, a total of 3.5 miles from downtown Montpelier
