| Bethany
Church has a joyful spirit! Our
worship services are a comfortable blend of the
old and the new, with plenty of music, laughter,
and, sometimes, tears. We are actively engaged
in mission. Our building is a resource to the
central Vermont community, and half the time of
one of our pastors is dedicated to serving community
members in need. We've had a sister parish relationship
with a village in El Salvador for over a decade.
We serve community meals and have a PINS partnership
(linked with a State social worker assisting foster
children). Many of our members are advocates for
justice and peace, locally and globally. And many
are involved in the work of the Conference.
While we recognize Jesus Christ
as the head of the church, there is no faith "test"
to be a part of Bethany Church; our members are
diverse in their theological beliefs. No matter
who you are or where you are on life's journey,
you are welcome!
Sunday worship is at 10:00 a.m.,
with nursery care provided. School-age children
attend the first part of the worship service and
then go to classes. Our Sunday School curriculum
is the UCC's "Seasons of the Spirit."
We also have rotational workshops. Our youth group
meets weekly; eleven members attended the 2004
UCC National Youth Event in Nashville, Tennessee!
Our special activities include:
- Services
featuring children or youth
- Many fellowship events, including
supper, music, dance, games
- "Brown Bag" women's
study and fellowship group
- Labyrinth walks
- Spanish Christmas service
