Quick Bits Special Edition
The Stewardship e-newsletter of the Vermont Conference
You are our marketing department! Please forward this newsletter to others who might benefit from it.
Greetings, members and friends of the Vermont Conference! This Stewardship newsletter is being sent to the broader Conference email list because it contains information that we want to get to a wider audience. If you don't normally receive the Faithful Stewards Newsletter, you can subscribe using the "join our mailing list" link to the left.
This issue has information about OCWM contributions, Per Capita, Per Capita rates for 2014, and IRS mileage reimbursements!
Please note that for contributions to be counted for 2013, they must be received by the Conference Office no later than January 10, 2014.
Many of our churches have just completed their Annual Stewardship Campaign, and I hope yours went well! If you'd like to change the way you look at and do Stewardship in 2014, be in touch!
And watch for new beginnings in 2014, as this newsletter expands to include not just Stewardship, but Church Vitality information as well.

Associate Conference Minister for Stewardship,
Church Vitality, and Finance
Our Church's Wider Mission (OCWM) Contributions
The main source of income for your Conference (35% of which is forwarded on to the national setting of the UCC) is OCWM. You've been generous so far, but we're a long way from our budgeted goal of $386,000. The following chart shows contributions by church, with the 2012 amount shown for reference. This list is current as of December 19, 2013. If your church is not listed, that means the Conference has not received an OCWM contribution in either 2012 or 2013.
Please see if there isn't room in your local church finances for an additional contribution for 2013!
Per Capita Contributions
Another important source of income for your Conference is Per Capita. Most churches have sent in their Per Capita for 2013, but a few have not. The following chart shows contributions by church, with the 2012 amount shown for reference. This list is current as of December 19, 2013. If your church is not listed, that means the Conference has not received a Per Capita contribution in either 2012 or 2013.
Please help make sure your local church has met its covenantal support to the wider church!
Per Capita Rates for 2014
Our second largest income stream as a Conference is Per Capita, the contributions received from churches based on their membership.
The official Per Capita letters will go out late in the first quarter of 2014, after local church forms are received and membership figures adjusted. Since many churches send in their Per Capita in 12 installments, I thought it would be helpful to publish the 2014 rates.
The chart below shows the Per Capita amounts by Association. Please note that for six of the Associations, an amount for your Association is added in addition to the Conference amount. We collect Per Capita on behalf of the Associations, and send that portion on to them. The Addison and Washington Associations collect their amounts directly from the churches, which is why a "0" appears in that column.
If you want to know more about Per Capita, there is a flier available on the Conference website. Click here to view/download.
As always, if you have any questions, pleased call or email me at the Conference Office.
IRS Mileage Reimbursement Rates Changes Jannuary 1, 2014
|Beginning January 2014, the official IRS reimbursement rate for Mileage decreases slightly to $0.56 per mile. The rate for volunteers remains at $0.14 per mile. See: http://www.irs.gov/2014-Standard-Mileage-Rates-for-Business,-Medical-and-Moving-Announced#.UrG0tf-OQ3k.email for more information.|
